Coughing is one of those weird things that we do almost every day but we don’t know why or what it means when we do it.

Did you know that coughing can also have a spiritual meaning behind it?

I was baffled when I found out, so I want to tell you about it:

1) You are getting rid of emotions

Emotions such as resentment, guilt, sadness, disappointment, shame, resentment, anger, or regrets can all cause us to cough or make us cough more than normal.

Coughing can be a spiritual way for our body to get rid of unwanted or negative emotions.

Coughing and sneezing both expel unwanted or unneeded energy from our body through the respiratory system.

So when you have a cold and you are coughing, you are probably getting rid of the emotions that you have been holding on to.

Think about it: when you cough or sneeze, physically, you are expelling bacteria that your body has been storing.

The more you cough or sneeze, the more you are getting rid of the negative emotions that are causing your illness.

Now: it’s only logical to deduce that the spiritual meaning of coughing is therefore to also release something negative – pent-up emotions, for example!

When we cough or sneeze, it means that we are getting rid of things in our past that we have been holding onto.

You see, it’s never good to hold onto past experiences for too long because you are holding onto the emotions that come with them.

This can cause us to get sick or to have a negative association with that experience.

When we cough or sneeze, it’s our body telling us that it wants to get rid of all those old emotions and experiences.

The thing is, coughing can be just the indicator that your body wants to get rid of these emotions, you will probably still have to do the hard work.

Releasing emotions is not always easy, especially if you’ve been holding onto them for a long time.

It’s hard to let go of things that you have kept bottled up in your chest for a long time.

That’s why it’s important to really know yourself and understand why you are holding onto these emotions so that when the time comes, you can let them go.

Once you let go of the negative emotions, they will no longer cause your body any pain or discomfort.

You’ll be free and clear to move on with your life because these negative emotions will no longer be dragging you down.

To let go of emotions, try to sit with them and really feel into them.

What are they trying to tell you?

What are you not dealing with in your life that is causing you to hold onto these emotions?

That’s why it’s important to really sit down and think about what is really going on for you.

When we sit down and think about what has been happening in our lives, it helps us to understand that we have a lot of things going on within us.

We have feelings of sadness, anger, jealousy, and so on.

When we do this exercise of sitting down and reflecting upon our lives, we can often find the reason why we are holding onto negative emotions.

Journaling can also be an amazing way to let go of old emotions and really see why we are still holding on to them.

2) A desire to be heard and seen

I’ve had people come to me and say they have been coughing a lot, and they don’t know why.

I’ve asked them if they want to be heard or seen.

What do I mean by that? Well, some people feel like they are ignored or invisible and they are not being heard.

This can be caused by lack of attention, a feeling of not being seen or heard, or not having your needs met.

If you are coughing a lot, you might want someone to pay attention to you and listen to what you are trying to say.

Now: this doesn’t even have to mean that you are literally being ignored in your everyday life, it can be as simple as not feeling like you are understood by the people that you are closest to.

To be seen and heard, you have to listen to yourself and really hear what it is that you need.

When people come to me, I ask them if they want to be heard or seen.

I ask them what they feel like they are not being heard or seen for in their life.

They tell me that they feel invisible sometimes, or that they don’t feel like other people pay attention to them.

I ask them why this might be. Is it because of something that happened in their life?

Are they just not getting enough attention from the people around them? Or are there some other underlying issues going on?

I tell them that I will help guide them through this process and help guide their healing journey so that the right things happen in their life and so that they get the attention and care that they need.

You see, it is a big need for us humans to be seen and heard in our experience, so it’s important to make that a priority.

The points in this article will give you a good idea of what coughing means spiritually.

But as every situation is unique, have you considered getting advice tailored to you?

Based on first-hand experience, I know that a gifted advisor can answer all sorts of questions and give you the guidance you’re searching for.

3) Spirit is tapping into your throat chakra and wants to speak through you

There are 7 chakras (energy centers) in the body.

One of those chakras is located in your throat.

The throat chakra is linked with your creativity, self-expression, and communication.

When your throat chakra is open, it allows you to be more in touch with your intuition, your creativity, and your self-expression.

This is why some people cough when they are creating something where they are speaking for themselves.

The cough is their body’s way of saying: “I want to express myself and be heard.”

This can also happen when you are talking to someone and you start coughing.

The cough is like a spirit tapping into your throat chakra and wanting to be heard through you. It is a way for the spirit to express itself.

Now: you might notice that you feel the urge to cough, especially when you are talking about something you feel passionate about.

This might be a sign that you need to pay attention to the energy of your throat chakra.

The more you listen to your spirit, the more you will start to make that connection between your physical body and your spirit.

4) You want to speak your truth

Truth is an important word in life. We all want to know the truth and to be truthful.

We don’t want to lie or be fake. We don’t want to hurt anyone, so we are careful with what we say and how we say it.

When you are coughing a lot, you might be wanting to speak your truth.

You might have something important to say, or you might want to set someone straight or let them know how you feel.

When you cough, you are saying: “I am ready to speak my truth.” You are saying that you want to set someone straight or let them know how you feel.

But coughing can also be a sign that you haven’t been speaking your truth enough.

You see, many people are afraid to stand in their truth, because it might not always be what other people want to hear.

If you are not speaking your truth, you are leaving out what is important to you.

And when you leave something out, that is where the energy goes.

When people don’t hear you, they will try to fill in the blank with something else.

That can cause a lot of problems in your life because it might not feel right or be true to who you really are.

5) You are feeling doubtful or fearful

Doubt is when you are unsure about something or fear is when you are nervous or anxious about the future.

When you have doubts, it can make you anxious or fearful. When you have been coughing a lot, you might be wanting to clear those emotions of doubt and fear.

You see, doubt and fear are important emotions, but sometimes, they are excessive and need to be let go.

If you are having doubts or fears, you might want to let them go so that the energy can be released.

Excessive doubt or fear can hold you back from realizing your true potential in life!

6) To let go of something you don’t need anymore

There are things in life that we want to let go of and be rid of.

We want to be free of the things that cause us stress or make us unhappy.

These things might be:

  • An illness you are trying to heal
  • An addiction you are trying to let go of
  • An unhealthy relationship you want to be out of
  • A situation at work you want to leave
  • An unhealthy habit you don’t want to keep doing
  • An abusive or toxic relationship where you are putting yourself in harm’s way
  • etc.

Whatever it is, there is something in your life that you don’t need anymore, and your cough is indicating that it’s time to let go of that now.

Something that you don’t need anymore is the energy that is being held in the body.

That energy can cause so much pain for you and for others, especially if it’s something that you have been holding onto for a long time.

If you are holding onto something that you don’t need anymore, it will be time to let go of it now.

You can do this by working with your body to let go of the old energy that no longer serves a purpose in your life.

A lot of people are scared to let go of things because they feel like they might never find something else to replace them.

But there is always a new thing right around the corner, and with every new day comes new possibilities.

7) You are rejecting something within you

Our bodies are incredibly intelligent.

They know what is good for us and what is not good for us.

They know what is good for our health and what is not good for our health.

When you start coughing a lot, it can be a way for your body to reject something within you.

When you are coughing, you can be rejecting something about or within you.

Now, physically speaking, your body might reject bacteria, a virus, or even dust when you are coughing.

Spiritually speaking, you can see your cough as a sign that you are rejecting something within you, something that either needs to be integrated or needs to leave you.

If you are coughing because of an emotional issue, then it will be time to work through that and heal yourself.

Whatever it is, the body is telling us that we need to do something now about whatever we are rejecting within ourselves.

I mentioned earlier how speaking to a gifted advisor can reveal the truth about coughing.

Rather than just analyzing the signs in the hopes of getting answers, a gifted advisor can give you real clarity on your situation.

8) It shows you where you have been putting too much effort or energy

If you have been coughing a lot, it can be showing you that you have been putting too much effort or energy into something.

Coughing can also have a connection to the chakras. There are 7 chakras in the body, and each one is connected to an organ in the body. One of the chakras is the throat chakra.

This chakra is connected to the lungs and the larynx area in your body.

When you have been coughing a lot, it can be showing you that you have been putting too much effort or energy into something.

You might be putting too much effort or energy into your work, school, or something you are trying to make happen.

Maybe you have been speaking too much, and the cough is your reminder that you also need to slow down and take some time to listen to the people around you.

You might be putting too much effort or energy into something that is not really worth it.

If you are coughing a lot, it could be showing you that you have been putting too much effort or energy into something and that you need to take a break.

Take a break from whatever is pulling at you, and let the body do its thing. Give the body some time to heal itself.

9) You feel like something is missing from your life or that something is wrong

Life is not always easy. Sometimes it can be hard and challenging.

It can be full of ups and downs. Essentially, it can be a rollercoaster ride where you go up and down.

When you cough a lot, it can mean that you feel like something is missing from your life.

But not just that, it might also indicate that something is going wrong right now.

Your body is trying to tell you that something is not quite right, and you need to listen to that.

We are talking about spirituality here, so it’s most likely that something is missing or out of whack with your spirituality.

Do you notice that you are less in tune with yourself?

Do you notice that something is not quite right in your life?

Your body is telling you to listen to yourself, and your mind is telling you that something is not quite right.

It could be showing you that you need to listen to what your body and mind are saying.

You need to listen to the messages your body is sending because it’s trying to tell you something.

The more that you try to ignore it, the more it will keep trying. It will keep repeating itself over and over again until finally, it gets through.

10) You are trying to find your path and purpose in life

Everyone has a purpose in life. We all have a dream, a goal, a desire, or a path that we want to follow.

When you have been coughing a lot, you are trying to find your path and purpose in life.

You are asking yourself: “What am I meant to do?” or “What is my purpose in life?”

Coughing can also be a sign that you are going through an initiation or a transformation.

It can be a sign that you need to get rid of the old and make room for the new.

You see, this is positive, it means that you are on your path to fulfilling your purpose!

You are moving forward and you are going in the right direction.

Listen to what it means

When you truly listen to yourself, you will figure out what it is your body is trying to tell you!

Listen to your intuition and listen to your body.

If you are able to pay close attention, you will be able to figure out what your body is trying to tell you.

I mentioned Psychic Source earlier. They’ve always helped me in the past when I’ve felt stuck in a rut.
